DESCRIPTION: Welcome to the Big Wild Ride Meander! We offer this ride as a RUSA brevet of 1199K, starting from Valdez on the last Friday in July at 4AM. This is your chance to complete (almost all of) the 2011/2013 Big Wild Ride route.
This ride has zero on-course support, zero travel support, zero lodging support, zero drop bag support - if you take it on, you are on your own from start to finish.
BRING YOUR OWN SUPPORT!
Make your own support arrangements, your own travel arrangements, your own lodging arrangements, and your own drop bag arrangements.
Some of the 2011/2013 controls are no longer open. We will continue to use the legacy controls and you may receive support at these locations within RUSA rules, same as any other ride. There are 18 controls on this route, lots of planning options.
Recommended overnights are Delta Junction, Healy, and Talkeetna.
There will be no pre-ride and no recon of the Valdez to Fairbanks leg of this ride.
We hope to have a ride report for the Fairbanks to Anchorage 600K leg, subsequent to the July 12 Fairbanks to Anchorage 600K. We will relay route and service updates at that time.
